The ID-Coop project started in October 2012 and will run until the end of March 2015.
Project activities are carried out in the Italian provinces of Belluno and Bozen (Ladin minority) and Udine and Gorizia (Friulian and Slovene minorities), as well as the districts of Villach Land, Klagenfurt Land, and Völkermarkt in Carinthia, Austria (Slovene minority). Approximately 800,000 people living here belong to these minorities.
ID-Coop promotes a type of cooperativism that draws on novel forms of social enterprise (eg European/crossborder cooperatives, Cooperative Community of the Appenino Reggiano) as well as on local needs and cultures. This results in a process of economic development that both respects and promotes minority language and culture.
ID-Coop innovatively brings together and promotes culture and economy by creating new cooperatives or by modifying and adapting those currently operating.
The key goal of the project is the creation of a model of cooperative able to respond to the needs of the local population and is based on findings from political-institutional and socio-linguistic studies of the programme areas as well as collected data about cooperativism.
